Publications' \"Sharp Memories\" is an attempt by contemporary artist Constanza Piaggio to intentionally create discontinuity and absence in images through the act of directly intervening with the photographic paper itself, tearing its surface. This radical act reveals the materiality of the image, showing its physical and symbolic fragility, while also dismantling the illusion of its neutrality. Using photographic images composed of natural elements and fragments of artworks, Piaggio constructs a visual language through repetition and accumulation that echoes the traces of history and human intervention in the environment. The severed, displaced, and exposed \"wounded surfaces\" become metaphorical landscapes, reflecting the marks we have etched into the world and the tension between nature and human existence. \"Sharp Memories\" critically interprets the image\u003cimg\u003e as a domain formed by confrontation and conflict. Through this poetic and material gesture, Piaggio imprints traces of human existence, emphasizing our formative role in the transformation of the Earth during the Anthropocene. In this work, her gaze also turns to the historical representation of women. Idealized gestures repeatedly reproduced have simplified and distorted female images, but Piaggio, by intervening in these images, reveals the underlying tension between beauty and violence.
