Bye Bye Binary is a French and Belgian collective that explores new typographical expressions adapted to the French language. Its starting point, experimental ground, and subject of research are language and inclusive and post-binary writing. This is explored particularly through the creation of font designs, ligatures, middle dots, connecting elements, and symbiotic elements.

Proposing "insider" documents written by the parties involved is important for typographic practices to function as living archives that make minorities visible. This movement continues to spread despite pressure from those who have the power to decide "readability or not," i.e., "visibility or not." The Bye Bye Binary magazine serves as a forum for deepening discussions on graphic design, language, body representation, and the political weight of identity.

• The collective's members collectively reread "The Imagination of Inclusive, Queer, and Non-Binary Typography," a text published in 2021, and report on the progress of their research and the current state of inclusive orthography in France and Belgium.

• Sophie Vera's article focuses on the accessibility of post-binary typography, presenting the author's research questions surrounding legibility.

• Nina Paim (Bikini Books, Futuress) interviews activists of inclusive typography in Portuguese-speaking countries.

• "Mots Flex" by Chloé Ortal: A crossword puzzle using the collective's unique vocabulary.

• Clara Sambot and Léna Salabert Triby present two graphic stagings that develop free-form expressions intertwining glyphs from a post-binary perspective, demonstrating the possibilities of the characters designed by the collective.

The members of Bye Bye Binary state their intention for this magazine as follows: "This magazine is a resource space that makes you want to recommend it, a space that shows narratives and emotions, explorations and relationships, healing and typographic practices. 'Our lives are fragile, like our ligatures, like our escaping grammar. We don't know what we are creating, but we know it is for ourselves and for something beyond ourselves.'"

Therefore, this magazine also addresses gender issues in languages other than French.

It aims for different forms of legibility to coexist. Innumerable typographic actions adorn the text like glittering glitter or diverse voices, shaking up the very habit of reading. Aesthetic expression becomes a political act, challenging norms and their margins in both letterforms and layout.
