2026

The latest issue of Milan-based culture magazine Lampoon. Lampoon Issue 33 "MECCANO" is a print publication. This issue is structured around conceptual themes such as systems, machines, and human cognition under the pressure of technology. Furthermore, this issue explores the relationship between artificial intelligence, labor, and cultural production, positioning "thinking itself" as an act of resistance in an environment where attention is increasingly optimized and simplified. The editorial framework is composed of contributions that traverse the fields of architecture, art, theory, and performance. Key topics include the algorithmic impact on information, diagrammatic thinking as a political and visual tool, and the transformation of authorship in machine-assisted creation. Multi-layered references unfold, from theoretical perspectives to practical design, photography, and bodily expression. Contributors include Romain Laprade, who addresses post-brutalist architecture in Uzbekistan, OMA/AMO, who deals with diagrammatic structures, Goshka Macuga, who explores systemic processes, Clara Hastrup, whose themes are illusion and construction, Mat Maitland, who deals with AI-generated images, and Yuko Mohri, who addresses the interaction between mechanical systems and the environment. Additionally, a special feature focusing on the body and prosthetics includes Xiao Yang, who explores post-human body images, Hugh Herr, who researches biomechatronics, and Andrea Lanfri and Corrado Polzoni, who treat bionic structures as material systems. Furthermore, Ohad Naharin presents a movement perspective that views the body as a nonlinear system through the GAGA method. In his preface, editor-in-chief Carlo Mazzoni quotes Umberto Eco and Miuccia Prada, positioning cultural production as a process rooted in "learning, analysis, and critical observation." This book is structured as a complex arrangement where text, images, and diagrams function in parallel, each serving as an independent yet mutually complementary means of expression.
