As the successor to Christian Dior and the director of his own fashion house, Yves Saint Laurent established himself as an innovative designer throughout his career. His dogs, inseparable from the Saint Laurent myth, constantly accompanied him, whether in the apartment he shared with Pierre Bergé, amidst the bustle of his workshop on Rue Marceau, or even at fashion shows. The author sheds light on forgotten childhood dogs and eccentric Chihuahuas, including Hazel, who was the artist's faithful companion for over two decades. The four famous French Bulldogs—all named "Moujik"—who were portrayed in annual greeting cards, appeared as evening models for Rive Gauche, and became muses for Warhol and Hockney, became essential to the creator's legend.

This book is enriched with new iconography by Hedi Slimane, who served as Saint Laurent's artistic director from 2012 to 2016 and has been Celine's artistic director since 2018. In addition to approximately 80 images from the photographic archives, the book also includes drawings by Yves Saint Laurent himself.
